Five Months of Growth: Revisiting My Slipper Orchid
Lately, I’ve been thinking about how growth can look quiet and small, a shift you don’t even notice until you pause long enough to look back.
Five months ago, I painted a Slipper Orchid. I loved the softness, the simple washes, and the way it captured how I felt about the subject at that moment. Recently, I felt curious enough to paint it again, not to “fix” anything, but just to see what would happen if I met the same flower with fresh eyes.
What I found surprised me. There are differences, of course, new details, new textures, a bit more boldness here and there. But what feels most interesting is realizing how revisiting the same subject can reveal how I’m changing too, my focus, my choices, the way I move the brush.
This painting reminded me that growth doesn’t always roar forward, sometimes it hums quietly in the background, showing itself only when you give it the chance.
If you’d like to bring this little reminder of quiet growth into your space, my new Lady Slipper Orchid painting is available in the shop.
